Maybe you’ve been thinking about counselling for a while, but something has stopped you taking that first step.
Perhaps the thought of sitting in a counselling room feels too intense.
Maybe you’re worried you won’t know what to say.
Or perhaps life has simply become so loud that what you need most isn’t another room....it’s space.
Space to breathe...
Space to think...
Space to reconnect with yourself...
If that resonates with you, Walk & Talk Therapy could offer a different way to experience counselling.
Rather than meeting indoors, we’ll meet in one of my carefully chosen outdoor locations around Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, surrounded by nature, open skies and fresh air.
We’ll walk.
We may sit beside the lake.
We may do a little of both.
There is no right way.
Only the way that feels right for you.
Life can feel relentless.
Work Difficulties.
Toxic Family.
Difficult Relationships.
Grief.
Stress & Anxiety.
The constant pressure to keep showing up, even when you feel you can’t carry on as you are.
Walk & Talk Therapy gives you something many people don’t realise they’ve been missing - permission to pause.
For fifty minutes, there is nowhere else you need to be.
Nobody needs anything from you.
You don’t have to be the strong one.
You simply have space to breathe, reflect and begin making sense of whatever has brought you to counselling.
People often say they find it easier to talk whilst walking rather than sitting face to face. Walking side by side removes some of the intensity that can come with traditional counselling.
Silences feel more natural.
There is less pressure to maintain eye contact.
Sometimes we’ll walk.
Sometimes we’ll stop and sit quietly overlooking the water.
Sometimes we’ll simply notice what’s around us before continuing.
The session develops naturally, at your pace.
We’re literally walking side by side.
For me, that’s symbolic of counselling itself. I don’t believe therapy is about somebody telling you how to live your life. I believe it’s about walking alongside you while you discover your own way forward.
One of the reasons I chose to train in Walk & Talk Therapy is because I know how different I feel when I step away from the constant noise and demands of everyday life.
The emails.
The phone calls.
The endless notifications.
The pressure to always be doing something.
When I’m beside the lake or beneath the trees, life seems to slow down.
I notice birdsong.
The movement of the water.
The changing seasons.
For a while, I feel free.
Not because nature takes life’s difficulties away but because it gives me enough space to look at them differently.
Research continues to show that spending time in nature can help reduce stress, improve wellbeing and leave us feeling calmer and more grounded.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is simply the chance to slow down.
Walk & Talk Therapy can support many different reasons for seeking counselling, including:
You don’t need to be particularly fit, and you certainly don’t need to be an experienced walker. Some sessions involve more walking than others, some include time sitting quietly together.
Every person is different.
Every session is different.
We’ll find what feels right for you.
I currently offer Walk & Talk Therapy at two carefully chosen outdoor locations:
Caldecotte Lake, Milton Keynes – peaceful lakeside paths, wildlife, open spaces and plenty of benches to stop and reflect. Free parking and nearby toilets.
Marston Vale Forest Centre, near Marston Moretaine – woodland walks, lakes, birdsong and beautiful surroundings that change with every season and seating to pause. Cafe and toilets nearby and ample paid parking.
Both locations have mainly level, slight small inclines but well-maintained paths that will be accessible to most.
Before we begin, we’ll talk through how we’ll manage confidentiality outdoors, including what we’d do if we happened to see somebody you know.
Some clients prefer simply to keep walking.
Others choose to pause the conversation until the person has passed.
We’ll decide together what feels most comfortable for you, so you can feel reassured before we even begin.
This is Britain!
A little rain usually doesn’t stop us, and I always carry umbrellas.
If the weather is particularly severe or unsafe, we’ll simply rearrange your session or move it online or by telephone.
If you’ve found yourself reading this page because life feels overwhelming right now, I’m really glad you’ve found your way here.
You don’t have to know exactly what you’ll say.
You don’t have to have everything worked out.
If the thought of stepping away from the noise of everyday life and spending fifty minutes walking beside a lake or beneath the trees feels like something you need right now, I’d love to hear from you so please fill in the contact form as the first step.
We’ll then take things at your pace.
